Are my files uploaded?
Nothing is uploaded. The file is read into memory by the page and processed by your own browser, and the site’s Content Security Policy blocks outbound connections entirely — so it cannot send your file anywhere even if it tried.
What happens to transparency when I convert to JPEG?
JPEG cannot store transparency, so transparent areas are flattened onto a solid background rather than turning black. Convert to PNG or WebP if you need to keep the alpha channel.
Which format should I pick?
WebP is usually smallest at the same visible quality and is supported by every current browser. JPEG is the safest for photos going into older software. PNG is right for screenshots, logos and anything needing transparency.
Can it convert HEIC photos from an iPhone?
Yes. On an Apple device Safari decodes HEIC itself, so it is as quick as any other format. Everywhere else the page loads a decoder the first time it meets one — a sizeable download, once, kept out of the offline cache precisely because most visitors never need it. Expect a pause on the first HEIC; afterwards it is cached.
